Pro-Khalistan Slogans Raised At Golden Temple

On the 41st anniversary of Operation Blue Star and the death of Bhindranwale, pro-Khalistan chants echoed at Amritsar’s Golden Temple. Present at the site was SAD (Mann) leader Simranjit Singh Mann. Former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode remarked that these slogans are a common occurrence, highlighting deep-rooted grievances.

Operation Blue Star, ordered by PM Indira Gandhi in June 1984, aimed to remove Bhindranwale-led militants demanding Khalistan from the Golden Temple.

Ongoing Pro-Khalistan Activity

In 2023, Amritpal Singh’s supporters attacked a police station in Ajnala. Singh became an MP in 2024. A Tarn Taran man was also arrested for spying for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.

Just before the anniversary, a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was vandalized near Phillaur. The banned group SFJ claimed responsibility.
