Punjab reels under severe flooding, with three more deaths in 24 hours, raising the toll to 46. Forty-eight more villages are at risk, and crop damage has slightly increased.

Severe floods in Punjab have affected nearly 2,000 villages, with Gurdaspur hit hardest, impacting 145,000 people. Crop losses exceed 17,400 hectares, peaking at 40,000 in Gurdaspur. PM Modi will visit on September 9.

Over 22,000 people have been evacuated to 200 relief camps as the Ghaggar River crosses its danger mark.

Relief involves NDRF/SDRF teams, boats, and a helicopter. The state released Rs 71 crore for immediate aid.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal urged loan waivers for farmers, compensation for losses, and help with sand removal and bund reinforcement.
