Kerala Youth Congress president and Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil resigned following harassment allegations by Malayalam actor Rini Ann George and writer Honey Bhaskaran.

Rini alleged that a young party official sent her inappropriate messages and made a hotel invitation, but her concerns were reportedly dismissed by the leadership. She did not name anyone, but BJP and DYFI protested at Mamkootathil’s office.

Honey Bhaskaran later accused Mamkootathil directly, saying he misrepresented their conversations despite prior complaints within the party.

Mamkootathil said he resigned not out of guilt but to let the party focus on upcoming elections, adding that no leader asked him to step down.

Opposition Leader VD Satheesan stated that the complaint had only recently reached Congress and assured that appropriate action would be taken, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations.
