Red Alert in Kerala
Heavy rains are lashing Kerala as the southwest monsoon arrived earlier than usual, creating havoc across the state. Thunderstorms and gusty winds have caused difficulties, especially in areas like Wayanad. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for 11 districts in Kerala.
Similar weather conditions are reported in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds on Monday caused major disruptions. Suburban train services were affected, and flight operations faced delays. Air India and several other airlines issued travel advisories.
IMD issued a Yellow Alert for areas including Dadar, Mahim, Parel, Bandra, and Kalachowki. Meanwhile, an Orange Alert was issued for Delhi. Continuous rainfall from Saturday night to early Sunday led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas.
In Delhi, trees and electric poles were uprooted. Areas like Delhi Cantonment, Dhaula Kuan, Subroto Park, and Nanakpura were submerged. Flight services were disrupted. In Tamil Nadu’s Ooty, a tree fell on a child, leading to death. In Karnataka’s Belagavi district, a three-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed on her while she was asleep.
