Sikkim Landslide: 3 Army Personnel Dead, 6 Missing In Lachen

A deadly landslide triggered by intense rainfall struck an Indian Army camp in Lachen, Sikkim, on June 1, resulting in the deaths of three personnel and leaving six others unaccounted for. Four individuals were safely rescued with minor injuries, and search operations continue despite challenging terrain and weather.

Relentless rain has also caused widespread infrastructure damage, with roads and bridges washed out and the Teesta River flowing above danger levels. Over 1,000 tourists were stranded, and nine remain missing after a vehicle fell into the river. More rain is forecast across the Northeast on June 5.
