Smart Ration Card Distribution in AP: Don’t Miss Free Collection Deadline

Ration card deadline Andhra Pradesh

When the coalition government assumed power in Andhra Pradesh, it introduced smart ration cards.

These cards were designed to be more secure and convenient, without showing any government seal or individual photograph. The smart design ensures that beneficiaries can collect their ration smoothly at any authorized shop across the country. Distribution of these new cards began on August 25. Every household received them free of charge, and later, additional cards were made available at Secretariats and ration outlets, also free of cost.

Reminder:

Despite this, a large number of ration cards remain uncollected. The coalition government has now issued an important directive regarding these pending cards. Beneficiaries must obtain their new smart ration cards from their registered ration shops by the 15th of this month.

Not Free This Time:

Cards not collected by the deadline will be returned to the Tahsildar’s office or the Civil Supplies Commissionerate. Unlike the initial distribution campaign, the card will not be free this time. Beneficiaries will need to reapply, and a nominal fee of ?35–?50 may be charged for courier delivery or reissuance. Additionally, a penalty of up to ?200 may apply in certain cases.

Mass Distribution:

Since August 25, the coalition government has distributed 1.46 crore smart ration cards across Andhra Pradesh in a phased manner. Door-to-door distribution has also been conducted, with shops starting to provide cards from September 1. While a large number of residents have received their cards, thousands in every district are still waiting.

Corrections Allowed:

Beneficiaries have been given a chance to correct or update details on their ration cards. The deadline for submitting amendments at village and ward secretariats is October 31. Every card has also been linked to Aadhaar through eKYC to ensure transparency and prevent misuse. Cards belonging to those who haven’t completed eKYC have been temporarily suspended.

Ongoing Process:

Officials have confirmed that applications for services like new cards, addition or deletion of names, and address changes will continue to be accepted at village and ward secretariats. Measures are in place to ensure any ration card-related issues are resolved on an ongoing basis.
