Narrow Escape for United Flight as Video Shows Nose Wheel Failure During Landing
The exact cause of the technical malfunction has not yet been determined. However, strong winds are being considered a possible contributing factor.
A United Airlines aircraft narrowly avoided a serious accident while landing at Orlando International Airport, according to a report by Fox 35 citing an airline representative. The Airbus A321, carrying 200 passengers and six crew members, was traveling from Chicago OHare International Airport to Orlando when it encountered a mechanical issue during touchdown. As a result, the aircraft came to a stop on the runway, forcing an immediate evacuation.
Footage that quickly spread across social media platforms appeared to show the aircraft losing its front landing wheel during the landing process. Despite the alarming visuals, no injuries were reported, and all occupants were evacuated safely.
In response to the incident, United Airlines arranged ground transportation to move passengers to the airport terminal. Maintenance and recovery crews were dispatched to clear the aircraft from the runway, according to a report by News on 6.
Emergency personnel from the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter unit were also deployed to the scene. Due to the situation, the Federal Aviation Administration initially ordered a ground stop for incoming flights, which was later revised to a ground delay. The disruption led to multiple departures being postponed.

While the precise reason for the malfunction remains under investigation, weather conditions are being closely examined. On Sunday, Orlando experienced rain, strong winds, and unusually cold temperatures.
Fox 35 reported that wind gusts at Orlando International Airport reached 54 miles per hour, while the nearby Orlando Executive Airport recorded gusts as high as 56 miles per hour.
In light of the severe conditions, the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for several areas, including parts of Brevard County along Florida’s East Coast.
