Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, India: Jammu and Kashmir, Jan 22: A tragic road accident occurred in the Doda sector of Jammu and Kashmir, where an Indian Army vehicle carrying jawans skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. At least ten soldiers lost their lives in the incident, while several others sustained serious injuries.
According to official sources, the Army vehicle was transporting 17 personnel to a high-altitude post when the driver reportedly lost control near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate highway. The vehicle fell into a gorge approximately 200 feet deep, resulting in heavy casualties.

Following the accident, Army and police teams immediately rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. The injured jawans were evacuated and shifted to Udhampur Military Hospital for treatment. The condition of several injured soldiers remains critical, raising concerns that the death toll may increase.
So far, the bodies of ten soldiers have been recovered from the accident site, while rescue and recovery operations are continuing under challenging terrain and weather conditions.
Condoling the deaths, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, confirmed the incident in a post on social media platform X. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
“It is with profound grief that we mourn the loss of ten brave Indian soldiers in this unfortunate incident in Doda. Their service and sacrifice will always be remembered,” the Lieutenant Governor stated. He also directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured personnel and wished them a speedy recovery.
