Supreme Court EVM verification Haryana
The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on a Congress plea for EVM verification in the Haryana Assembly polls, scheduling it for February 11, 2025. The Bench, led by Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan, scheduled the case for hearing on February 11. The plea, filed by former Congress MLA Karan Singh Dalal, argues that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not provided a procedure for verifying the burnt memory/microcontroller of the EVM components as per a previous Supreme Court order from April 2024. This order directed the verification of 5% of EVMs, but the petition claims the ECI has not implemented the procedure. The petition emphasizes the importance of the issue for the integrity of the election process.
