TVK Government Formation: Vijay Secures Support of CPI, CPM and VCK

Vijay Nears Government Formation in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India: The suspense surrounding the formation of the government in Tamil Nadu appears to be nearing an end, as actor-turned-politician Vijay is reportedly preparing to meet Governor R. V. Arlekar once again with the required legislative support.

According to party sources, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has received backing from several alliance partners, strengthening its position to stake claim for forming the government. Support has reportedly come from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), and VCK leaders.

The current party-wise strength stands as follows:

  1. TVK – 107
  2. Congress – 5
  3. CPI – 2
  4. CPI(M) – 2
  5. VCK – 2

Vijay had earlier met the Governor on Wednesday and Thursday. However, the process of government formation was delayed after the Governor reportedly advised the party to return with adequate numerical strength.

With the support of five Congress MLAs, TVK’s tally increased significantly. The backing of CPI, CPI(M), and VCK is expected to help the party comfortably cross the simple majority mark required to form the government.

Sources stated that the CPI working committee and the CPI(M) state leadership have already extended their support to TVK. In addition, two MLAs from the VCK are also believed to be backing Vijay’s party. Official announcements from these parties are expected shortly.

Political observers believe the latest developments could pave the way for a major shift in Tamil Nadu politics, with Vijay emerging as a key political force in the state.
