Heavy rains have battered Uttarakhand, triggering a cloudburst in Dehradun and surrounding areas on Monday night. Flash floods in Sahastradhara on Tuesday swept away hotels, shops, and homes, leading to at least 15 fatalities and leaving tens of thousands unaccounted for.

An orange alert has been issued as the Meteorological Department warns of more heavy rainfall.

Himachal Pradesh is also facing intense rains, particularly in Mandi district, where rivers and streams have overflowed, disrupting normal life.

Three people have lost their lives, and 45 are still missing. Since June 20, the state has reported 417 casualties due to monsoon rains, with 46% above-normal rainfall recorded between September 1–16. A yellow alert has been issued for five districts expecting heavy rain today.
