Murshidabad Violence: Governor CV Anand Bose Vows to Address Displaced Families’ Concerns
West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose visited Malda to meet the victims of the recent Murshidabad violence, which was sparked by protests over the Waqf law. During his visit, he spoke with displaced individuals, including men, women, and children, who had sought refuge at a shelter in Baishnabnagar. Despite Mamata Banerjee's objections, Bose visited the site to assess the situation and promised "proactive action" for the victims.
The violence, which occurred on April 11 and 12, led to riots that forced many to flee Murshidabad. Governor Bose assured the affected families that the government would take necessary steps to resolve the situation. He also expressed plans to visit the riot-affected areas in Murshidabad and said that recommendations would follow after his visit. Meanwhile, the state has deployed additional police and central forces to maintain peace, and an SIT investigation has been initiated into the violence.
