Amaravati: In a significant development for Andhra Pradesh’s capital region, the central government has taken a major step forward in advancing infrastructure in Amaravati. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a Central Secretariat has been prepared and submitted to the Union Cabinet for approval.
The project, estimated at ₹2,534 crore, has been designed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). It includes the construction of a Common Central Secretariat complex at a cost of ₹1,299.08 crore, which will house various central government offices.
Additionally, residential complexes for central government employees have been planned at an estimated cost of ₹1,234.91 crore. The development aims to create a comprehensive administrative and residential ecosystem in the capital region.
The proposal has already received approval from Union Housing Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has allocated 22.53 acres of land for the project, of which 5.53 acres will be used for the Secretariat buildings and 17 acres for residential facilities.
Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar has been closely monitoring the progress and coordinating with officials regarding the project’s implementation.
Meanwhile, HUDCO has also announced plans to construct an international convention centre on 10 acres of land in Amaravati, further enhancing the region’s infrastructure and global appeal.
