Alappuzha, Kerala, India: Recent incidents involving the sudden passing of NRIs have raised concern. One such case is the untimely death of an Indian engineer in the UAE, who suffered a heart attack just hours after seeing off his wife and son at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The deceased has been identified as Hariraj Sudevan, 37.

Hariraj, originally from Alappuzha district in Kerala, had been living in the UAE for over 12 years. His wife, Dr. Anu Ashok, and their 10-year-old son, Ishan Dev Hari, had traveled to Kerala. Hariraj experienced a fatal heart attack in Abu Dhabi shortly after their departure from the airport. His uncle, Ashok KP, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss, saying, “We cannot come to terms with the fact that he is no more.”

Ashok recalled spending ten days with his daughter and grandson before returning home on Sunday evening. Hariraj was expected to visit later this month to celebrate his son's birthday on October 27. An alumnus of IIT Madras, Hariraj worked as a senior offshore construction engineer in the UAE for more than a decade. He earned a B.Tech from CUSAT and an M.Tech from IIT Madras.

Hariraj’s remains were flown back to Kerala for the final rites. A close friend, Dijin Thomas, shared, “We gathered at our house to celebrate Thomas's daughter’s birthday, and those were truly happy moments.”
