Chopra, who joined the Army in 2016 as a Junior Commissioning Officer, recalls an incident after winning the 2018 Asian Games gold, where athletes had to cut their hair before meeting General Bipin Rawat. However, he convinced General Rawat that his long hair was a personal preference and was allowed to keep it.

Managing long hair during intense training sessions is difficult for Chopra, especially with excessive sweating. He points out that athletes, like tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, also face similar issues with hair fall due to their rigorous training. Chopra admits it’s tough to care for his hair under these conditions, as washing it daily isn't practical.
