Apple iPhone 17e Rumoured to Feature Thin Bezels, Dynamic Island and A19 Chipset

Apple iPhone 17e

A new report from South Korea suggests that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e will debut in the first half of next year with several noticeable design updates. The device is said to feature an OLED display similar to the one used in the iPhone 15, while Apple’s display manufacturing partners — BOE, Samsung Display, and LG Display — are reportedly preparing to supply nearly 8 million OLED panels for this model.

iPhone 17e May Arrive With Slimmer Bezels and Dynamic Island

According to details published by The Elec (Korea), BOE has been chosen as the lead supplier for the iPhone 17e’s OLED screens. Shipments of these panels are expected to ramp up in the first half of 2026. The handset is believed to reuse the LTPS OLED panel from the iPhone 16e but with slightly narrower borders, giving the device a refreshed aesthetic while retaining the familiar 6.1-inch display size — the same as the iPhone 14.

Apple reportedly plans to transition its standard iPhone 17 lineup to LTPO panels, though the iPhone 17e will continue using LTPS to maintain its budget-friendly positioning. BOE previously served as the main screen supplier for the iPhone 16e as well, with Samsung and LG supporting the remaining production volume.

Earlier leaks also indicated that the iPhone 17e will do away with the traditional notch, adopting the Dynamic Island cutout used on the iPhone 16 series and expected on the iPhone 17. The device is likely to offer a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and could be priced around CNY 4,499 (approximately ₹57,000).

The smartphone is rumoured to launch in May next year and could be powered by the A19 processor, though with fewer GPU cores compared to the flagship iPhone 17 models. Camera upgrades may include a 48-megapixel main sensor on the back and a 12-megapixel selfie camera.
