Hardik Pandya T20 World Cup Celebration

New Delhi: A complaint has been filed with the police against Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya alleging that he disrespected the national flag during the celebrations following Team India's T20 World Cup victory.

According to police officials, Advocate Wajid Khan approached the Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Pune seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Pandya. The complaint claims that the cricketer wrapped the Indian tricolour around his body during the celebrations and behaved in a manner that allegedly disrespected the national flag.

The incident reportedly took place during the victory celebrations held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after India's win over New Zealand.

In his complaint, Khan stated that disrespecting the national flag is an offence under Indian law and urged authorities to take appropriate legal action. He also emphasized that every citizen has a responsibility to uphold the dignity and honour of the national flag.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in India's second consecutive T20 World Cup triumph. The all-rounder delivered strong performances throughout the tournament, scoring two half-centuries, including a quick 52 off 28 balls against Namibia in a league match. Pandya also contributed significantly with the ball, taking nine wickets during the competition.

Authorities have confirmed receiving the complaint and said the matter will be reviewed in accordance with legal procedures.
