Delhi Capitals fast bowler Nandini Sharma has etched her name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in a single season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Nandini surpassed the previous record held by Mumbai Indians spinner Saika Ishakhi, who had claimed 15 wickets during the 2023 season. In the ongoing WPL 2026 edition, Nandini has taken 16 wickets so far, achieving the milestone during the Eliminator match against Gujarat Giants on February 3, where she picked up two crucial wickets.

Earlier in the season, Nandini delivered a memorable performance by claiming a five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, in the opening league match against Gujarat Giants. Her consistent performances have played a key role in Delhi Capitals’ impressive run this season. The 24-year-old right-arm pacer was acquired by the franchise for Rs 20 lakh at the WPL auction.
In the Eliminator, Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Giants by seven wickets to secure a place in the final for the fourth consecutive season. Gujarat, batting first, posted 168 for 7 in 20 overs, with Beth Mooney scoring an unbeaten 62. For Delhi, Channel Henry claimed three wickets, while Nandini Sharma and Minnu Mani chipped in with two and one wickets respectively.
Chasing a target of 169, Delhi reached the total in 15.4 overs, losing three wickets. Lizelle Lee (43) and Jemimah Rodrigues (41) anchored the successful chase. Delhi Capitals will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the WPL 2026 final, scheduled to be held in Vadodara on February 5.
