India Advises Citizens to Leave Iran Amid US Strike Fears, Helplines Issued

New Delhi, Delhi, India: The Government of India has issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals residing in Iran, amid reports that the United States may launch a military strike at any time. Indians currently in Iran have been strongly advised to leave the country at the earliest opportunity.

According to the Indian Embassy in Tehran, citizens are urged to utilize all available means of transportation, including commercial flights, to return to India. The advisory applies to Indian students, pilgrims, businesspersons, tourists, and other residents in Iran.

The embassy has advised Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin to exercise extreme caution and avoid areas witnessing protests or public unrest. Individuals are encouraged to closely follow local media updates and remain alert to any significant developments.

Embassy officials have also advised citizens to keep their passports and essential travel documents readily accessible at all times. Those who have not yet registered with the Embassy of India in Tehran are requested to complete the e-registration process through the official online portal at the earliest.

This advisory follows a similar notice issued earlier on January 5, 2026.
