Indian Coast Guard Seizes 5 Tonnes of Drugs in Historic Bust
The Indian Coast Guard has seized five tonnes of drugs from a fishing boat near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, marking one of its largest-ever drug hauls. This operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking. Earlier this month, the NCB, Navy, and Gujarat Police arrested eight Iranian nationals after seizing 700 kg of methamphetamine off the Gujarat coast.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the operation, reaffirming the government's commitment to a drug-free India. So far this year, Indian agencies have seized over 3,500 kg of drugs, with several foreign nationals arrested in connection to the smuggling operations.
