IISER Pune, Maharashtra, India:  Two Indian-origin researchers, Aslam Shaikh from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar and Srinivasan Ramakrishnan, associated with IIT Bombay, have been appointed to the 2026 Early Career Advisory Board (ECAB) of JACS Au, the gold open-access journal of the American Chemical Society.

The appointments were announced as part of the journal's sixth Early Career Advisory Board, which consists of 25 researchers representing leading institutions from several countries. The board includes 20 newly selected members along with five returning members from the 2025 ECAB.

Confirming the announcement on X, Aslam Shaikh expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying he was honored to serve on the 2026 ECAB and thanked Chief Editor Christopher John for the appointment.

Srinivasan Ramakrishnan is a noted condensed matter physicist specializing in experimental ultra-low temperature physics. He previously served as Director and Distinguished Professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and recently joined the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune as a Distinguished Professor. He is listed on the advisory board under IIT Bombay.

According to the journal, the Early Career Advisory Board is constituted annually and generally includes researchers who earned their doctoral degrees between three and ten years ago while actively contributing to scientific research and scholarly publishing.

ECAB members help the journal identify emerging research areas and scientific trends in chemistry and related disciplines. They also review research manuscripts and nominate outstanding published papers for the journal's "ECAB Selects" recognition. These papers later become contenders for the annual JACS Au Outstanding Paper Award, with winners receiving publication fee waivers for future ACS Au journal publications.

Welcoming the newly appointed members, the journal congratulated them on their selection and expressed confidence in their contributions to the advancement of the publication.
