Indian Students in Iran Latest News: Government Urged to Start Evacuation

Indian medical students in Iran seek evacuation amid ongoing missile strikes

West Asia, Iran: The ongoing conflict in West Asia has placed hundreds of Indian medical students studying in Iran in a difficult and dangerous situation. The joint military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel have now entered their tenth day, leaving many Indian students stranded in several Iranian cities.

Students say they are living under constant fear as missile strikes and explosions continue around them. Many claim they are staying close to shelters and underground bunkers for safety while struggling with a growing shortage of essential supplies.

According to the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), more than 18 emergency distress requests have been received from Indian students located in cities including Isfahan, Qom, Kerman, and Shiraz.

Reports indicate that an explosion occurred close to a student hostel in the Darwaze-e-Shirazi area of Isfahan. Following the blast, around 32 Indian medical students were reportedly moved to underground bunkers as a precaution. Students said that on March 7 and March 8, explosions were heard frequently, creating panic among those staying in the region.

Apart from security concerns, students are also facing shortages of essential commodities. AIMSA stated that some students in Kerman have reported running low on food supplies and are unable to step outside due to the volatile security situation.

Students studying at prominent institutions such as Tehran University of Medical Sciences have reportedly started moving to relatively safer areas after buildings near their residences were damaged in attacks.

Dr. Mohammed Momin Khan, a representative of AIMSA, urged the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to take immediate action before the situation worsens.

“The safety of Indian students is our top priority. The government should respond quickly to ensure they are evacuated safely,” he said.

Meanwhile, families of the stranded students have expressed deep concern over the situation. Relatives staged a protest at Pratap Park in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding urgent action from the central government.

The families have appealed to authorities to bring the students back to India through special evacuation missions similar to Operation Kaveri or Vande Bharat.

The conflict in the region continues to escalate. Shortly after the reported death of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei announced a fresh missile strike. Israel has also intensified its attacks on central Iran.

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have stated that they will work together to determine steps toward ending the conflict.
