Central Park, New York City, NY, USA: A tragic incident involving an Indian family occurred in New York City, United States, when a horse-drawn carriage overturned in Central Park, resulting in the death of an Indian teenager.
According to reports, Deepak Mahajan had recently arrived in New York with his family on their first visit to the city. On Wednesday afternoon, the family took a ride in a horse-drawn carriage at Central Park.
The incident took place around 3 p.m. when the carriage driver reportedly stepped away from the vehicle to take photographs of tourists. During that time, the horse suddenly bolted, causing panic among the passengers. Romanch Mahajan, 18, fell from the moving carriage and suffered a severe head injury. Two other passengers also jumped from the carriage in an attempt to escape.
Moments later, another carriage reportedly struck the wheels of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. Romanch was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Several other passengers sustained injuries in the accident.

The Transport Workers Union (TWU) expressed condolences over the death of the Indian teenager. Officials confirmed that the seven-year-old horse involved in the incident, identified as Sampson, was not injured.
The union stated that carriage operators should not leave their vehicles unattended and affirmed its support for a full investigation into the accident.
The incident has once again reignited concerns regarding the safety of horse-drawn carriages in New York City. Calls for stricter regulations and a possible ban on such services have resurfaced following the tragedy.
