Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024: The upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are set to take place soon, with the Election Commission having already announced the schedule. The Indian alliance is gearing up to secure victory in these elections. Meanwhile, the BJP has released its initial list of candidates for the first phase, naming 44 candidates for the three-phase election process. The Indian alliance parties are also preparing to unveil their own candidate lists shortly.
The alliance between two Indian parties for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has been finalized. The elections will cover all 90 assembly seats. The National Conference will contest 50 seats, the Congress will field candidates for 32 seats, and the CPI(M) and Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party will compete for one seat each. The remaining six seats will see a friendly contest among the India alliance parties. Additionally, the Congress has announced its candidates for nine seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Ghulam Nabi Azad's Democratic Progressive Azad are running independently. AAP has announced candidates for seven seats, marking its debut in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, while the Democratic Progressive Azad Party has announced candidates for 13 seats.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set the schedule for the three-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir: polling for 24 assembly seats will occur on September 18, 26 seats on September 25, and 40 seats on October 1. The results will be announced on October 4.
