Kamala Harris Calls for a New Direction in First Major Interview of Presidential Campaign

Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign

In her first major TV interview of her presidential campaign, Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, stated that Americans are ready to "turn the page" on Donald Trump, criticizing his agenda for dividing the country and undermining American values. Harris, who will face Trump in the November 5 elections, emphasized a need for a "new way forward."

She declined to engage with Trump’s comments on her racial identity, dismissing them as part of an outdated political strategy. Addressing border issues, Harris affirmed the need for law enforcement and highlighted her experience as California's Attorney General in handling transnational crimes.

She criticized Trump for obstructing a border security bill that would have added 1,500 agents, claiming it was politically motivated. Harris expressed pride in working with President Biden and confirmed her commitment to bipartisan governance by considering naming a Republican to her Cabinet if elected.
