As of December 11, 2024, nearly 2,000 firefighters were battling the blaze, which has scorched over 4,000 acres since it started on December 9. The fire is only 7% contained, and challenging terrain is slowing progress. The fire has impacted 22,000 people, but no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Among the evacuees is actor Dick Van Dyke, who safely evacuated with his wife and pets. The fire's cause is still under investigation.
