Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijay, founder and president of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has officially announced his party’s candidate list for the upcoming Puducherry Assembly elections. The party has named candidates for 30 out of the total 33 constituencies in the Union Territory.

Marking a significant step in his political journey, Vijay is actively working to expand TVK’s presence beyond Tamil Nadu. Since entering politics, he has focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots level, combining his mass appeal with strategic political planning.

The announcement comes ahead of the upcoming elections scheduled across multiple states next month. In Puducherry, polling will be conducted in a single phase on April 9, while the results will be declared on May 4.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a partial list of candidates, naming only nine so far. In contrast, TVK has taken a more comprehensive approach by announcing the majority of its candidates in one go.

Vijay is also intensifying his efforts in Tamil Nadu, aiming to position TVK as a strong political force in the region. The release of the Puducherry candidate list highlights the party’s broader electoral ambitions and commitment to contesting beyond its home state.
