Vande Bharat Sleeper
The Vande Bharat Sleeper services are set to expand into the Telugu states, bringing new route options for passengers. With the rising demand for faster and comfortable travel, railway authorities are moving quickly to introduce additional Vande Bharat operations. One of the upcoming routes includes a new sleeper service connecting Vijayawada and Bengaluru through Tirupati, and the route structure has already been finalized.
After reviewing high-demand corridors, Indian Railways has chosen to launch two services—one originating from Secunderabad and another from Vijayawada. The Sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat train will operate with 16 coaches, consisting of 11 Third AC coaches, 4 Second AC coaches, and 1 First AC coach.
According to officials, the first sleeper service running between Secunderabad and New Delhi will cover a distance of 1667 km in under 20 hours, with halts at key stations such as Agra Cantt, Gwalior, Jhansi, Bhopal, Itarsi, Nagpur, Balharshah, and Kazipet.
The train will leave New Delhi at 8:50 PM and arrive in Secunderabad at 8:00 PM the following day.
Meanwhile, the proposal for the Vijayawada–Bengaluru Vande Bharat is nearing approval. If it cannot begin in the first rollout phase, officials plan to include it in the second phase, expected to be confirmed in March.
Political sources indicate that a Vande Bharat Sleeper could also be allotted to the Ayodhya route, using the existing Vijayawada–Warangal line, possibly as a night service. This would greatly benefit travellers from the Telugu states who frequently visit Ayodhya and Varanasi.
