Shan Masood Breaks 33-Year Record With Fastest Double Century in First-Class Cricket

Pakistan captain scripts fastest double century, ends 33-year-old mark

Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood etched his name into the record books by registering the quickest double hundred in domestic first-class cricket. The landmark knock came during a President’s Cup 2025–26 fixture against Sahara Associates. Turning out for Sui Northern Gas, Masood reached 200 in just 177 deliveries, striking 18 boundaries and two maximums.

The previous benchmark for the fastest first-class double century by a Pakistan player was held by former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who achieved the feat in 188 balls against England in 1992. Masood surpassed that standard after 33 years.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag continues to own the record for the fastest double century by a visiting player in Pakistan. Sehwag’s 200 came off 182 balls during the 2006 Test in Lahore.

Across all first-class cricket, the outright fastest double century belongs to Shafiqullah Shinwari, who completed his 200 in a remarkable 89 balls in Afghanistan’s domestic competition. England’s Kay Kimber follows with a double hundred off 100 deliveries in county cricket.

India’s Tanmay Agarwal is next on the list, having reached the milestone in 119 balls for Hyderabad against Arunachal Pradesh. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri stands fourth overall, having brought up his double century in 123 balls versus Baroda in the Ranji Trophy.
