Vaibhav Suryavanshi Registers Another Lightning Fifty, Dominates Fastest Lists
Rising young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to impress in One Day Internationals with his explosive performances. In the second match of the three game ODI series against South Africa, played at Bononi, he smashed a half century in just 19 deliveries. Remarkably, six of the fastest fifteen fifties in youth ODIs now belong to him.
Suryavanshi delivered a powerful knock of 68 runs from only 24 balls, which included one boundary and ten sixes. A massive 60 of his runs came through six hitting alone. This innings stands as the fourth quickest half century ever recorded in youth ODIs. Once again, his name dominates the elite list, occupying six positions among the top fifteen fastest fifties.
The fastest youth ODI half century remains with South African batter Steve Stalk, who reached the milestone in just 13 balls against Scotland Under 19 on January 27, 2024. Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant holds second place after scoring 52 runs from 18 balls against Nepal Under 19 on February 1, 2016. Afghanistan all rounder Azmatullah Omarzai sits third, having struck a 19 ball fifty against New Zealand Under 19 on January 25, 2018.
Before this match, Suryavanshi had already recorded half centuries off 20, 24, 25, and 30 balls. His latest effort against South Africa now places his 19 ball fifty among the six fastest half centuries he has achieved in youth ODIs, further underlining his exceptional batting ability.
