2029 PM Race: Reuters Says Chandrababu Naidu or Nara Lokesh Could Succeed Modi

2029 PM Race: Chandrababu Naidu or Lokesh

Reuters, a prominent global news agency, has published an insightful assessment that has sparked nationwide discussion. According to its analysis, Nara Chandrababu Naidu or Nara Lokesh could be contenders for the post of Prime Minister of India in the year 2029.

In a thought-provoking report, Reuters examined the political landscape ahead of the 2029 general elections. The agency noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be 79 years old at that time, raising questions about leadership succession should he step away from active political life.

The report places Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and state minister Nara Lokesh among the possible candidates for the top post. Reuters suggested that if the Bharatiya Janata Party fails to secure a clear majority in 2029 and regional parties within the National Democratic Alliance gain significant influence, either Chandrababu Naidu or Nara Lokesh could emerge as a consensus leader from southern India.

The analysis further identified Amit Shah, regarded as the most influential BJP figure after Modi, as a leading internal contender. Reuters also highlighted Devendra Fadnavis, a prominent political figure from Maharashtra, as another name under consideration.

However, the report did not include Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, despite his strong grassroots popularity. This omission has raised questions about the rationale behind projecting leaders like Fadnavis, who may not command comparable mass support, as potential successors in the post Modi era.
