US Visa Decline 2025: Trump Policies Impact India, China the Most

Trump Visa Curbs Hit India, China Hard in 2025 🇺🇸

Washington, D.C.USA: India and China have emerged as the most affected countries following the tightening of US immigration policies under President Donald Trump, according to a report by The Washington Post.

Data released by the US State Department in early March indicates a significant drop in visa approvals during 2025. Approximately 250,000 fewer visas were issued in the first eight months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

Overall, the approval rate for both permanent and temporary visas declined by 11 percent between January and August 2025. These categories include visas granted to students, skilled workers, and family members of legal residents. While tourist visas were not included in the 11 percent reduction, their issuance also recorded a noticeable decline during the same period.

Defending the administration’s stance, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson stated that President Trump’s policies are driven by a commitment to prioritizing American citizens. She emphasized that all decisions reflect the administration’s “America First” approach.

The US State Department further noted that the administration remains firm on national security concerns, stating that the president is cautious about allowing large numbers of inadequately vetted foreign nationals into the country.

The tightening of visa norms is expected to have wide-ranging implications, particularly for students and professionals from India and China seeking opportunities in the United States.
