Amarnath Yatra Suspended Due To Heavy Rain, Repairs Underway

Amarnath Yatra Halted Due to Rain

The Amarnath Yatra was temporarily halted on Thursday from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to track damage caused by continuous rainfall. Restoration efforts are underway, with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) deploying teams and machinery to ensure safety and accessibility.

Meanwhile, a landslide along the Baltal path tragically claimed the life of a woman and left three others injured. Pilgrims currently at Panjtarni are being guided down the route under close supervision by authorities. The Yatra is expected to resume Friday, weather permitting.

Yatra 2025 Update:

Since July 3, more than 2.47 lakh devotees have undertaken the sacred journey, marking a strong turnout for this year’s pilgrimage season. More than 1 lakh departed from Jammu, and 4 lakh have registered. The pilgrimage ends on August 9.
