Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is making significant progress in the fourth phase of its metro network. With this initiative, around 104 km of new tracks will be added on six lines. The first three kilometres of Metro Phase 4 will begin in August.
This new section, which runs from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg corridor, is an important milestone in expanding the Delhi Metro network.
The three priority corridors of 65.1 kilometres and 45 stations will be completed by June 2026.
These corridors are strategically designed to address key connectivity gaps and provide easy access to important areas such as commercial districts and residential neighbourhoods.
The Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg line is part of the Phase 4 project, which is spread over 28.9 km, Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
The final phase of construction and safety checks for this section connecting Janakpuri West with Krishna Park Extension are now top priorities.
The construction of Phase 4 Corridor is progressing at a fast pace. The segment that is almost ready to open is three miles long. According to Live Hindustan, the Krishna Park extension will be at ground level, but the Janakpuri West section will be elevated.
The fourth phase of the Delhi Metro project seeks to improve connectivity across the city. Once fully operational, it will connect downtown Delhi's bustling markets and historic buildings with neighbourhoods like Rohini, Pitampura, Uttara Rohini Campus, Prashant Vihar and Delhi Hath.
By March 2026, the construction of three routes in Phase IV should be completed. Majlis Park to Maujpur (12.5 km), Aerocity to Tughlaqabad (23.6 km), and Janak Puri West to RK Ashram (28.9 km) are all part of this ambitious expansion.
With this progress, the metro system in Delhi is expected to expand significantly, providing greater connectivity and convenience to millions of commuters across the city.
