Indian-Origin Teen Arrested in Texas Family Shooting Case

Alton, Texas, USA: A shocking incident has emerged from Texas, United States, where a 19-year-old Indian-origin student has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing three members of his family. The victims include his parents and grandmother. His brother was also shot during the incident but survived.

According to police, the tragedy occurred on June 16 at the family's residence in Alton, Texas. The accused, identified as Gaurav Chopra, allegedly opened fire on his parents, Sweta Ram (56) and Kamlesh Rani (46), as well as his grandmother, Mohinder Kaur (73), who was living with the family.

Authorities said Gaurav also fired at his brother before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The surviving brother immediately alerted law enforcement, prompting a large-scale search operation. Police later located and arrested the suspect.

Investigators are currently working to determine the motive behind the attack. Officials stated that the accused had no known criminal record and there was no immediate evidence of drug abuse.

The incident has left relatives in India devastated. Family acquaintances said the victims had visited their native place in Punjab just a few months ago and appeared happy and well-settled. The Mayor of Palmview expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the affected family.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
