Varanasi gang rape
Upon his arrival in Varanasi on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a detailed briefing by senior officials regarding the gang-rape of a 19-year-old woman. The victim was allegedly drugged and assaulted by 23 men over six days across multiple hotels. Modi directed authorities to take the strictest action against the accused and ensure preventive measures are in place. So far, six suspects have been arrested.
