New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament on February 1. This will be the ninth straight Union Budget delivered by a woman Finance Minister under the leadership of the same Prime Minister. Expectations are high among citizens, businesses, and salaried middle class families across the nation. The presentation is especially significant as it is uncommon for the Union Budget to be introduced on a Sunday.
The Budget Session of Parliament commenced on January 28, while the Economic Survey 2025-26 was presented on January 29. This will be the second complete Budget of the Modi 3.0 administration, following an interim Budget in 2024 and a full Budget in 2025.
Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the Budget is expected to emphasize economic reforms, adjustments in customs duties, fiscal consolidation, infrastructure development, and social welfare initiatives. Strong expectations are also centered on income tax relief, defense spending, agriculture support, and overall economic expansion.
