Uttar Pradesh Announces Maha Kumbh Mela District for 2025 Festival
Ahead of the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, has officially declared the Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj as a new district. The decision, made on Sunday, aims to improve the management and administration of the grand religious event set to take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025.
This newly formed district will be named the "Maha Kumbh Mela District." The move was discussed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the 2024 Magh Mela, in preparation for the upcoming Maha Kumbh.
The district will cover the revenue villages and the parade area, and the Mela Adhikari will hold the powers of the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, and Executive Magistrate for smooth operations. This change comes into effect immediately as preparations intensify for the major event.
Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Uttar Pradesh on December 13 to review the preparations and inaugurate significant development projects related to the Kumbh Mela. The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is expected to be a major cultural and spiritual milestone for India.
