Wife's ₹20 Lakh Conspiracy: Sonam Raghuwanshi Ends Husband's Life, Dumps Body in Meghalaya Gorge

Wife's ₹20 Lakh Conspiracy: Sonam Raghuwanshi claim Husband

Shocking facts have emerged in the murder case of Raja Raghuwanshi. Meghalaya Police have confirmed that his wife, Sonam Raghuwanshi, was the mastermind, planner, and executor of the murder. Raja and Sonam were married on May 11. Right after the wedding, Sonam began plotting his murder. She stayed at her in-laws' house for three days, during which she avoided getting close to her husband, citing various reasons. During this time, she messaged her lover Raj Kushwaha, saying she was unable to be intimate with her husband. Three days later, she went to her parents' house in Uttar Pradesh. Once there, she planned the murder along with her lover. They hired contract killers for ₹4 lakhs. The killers suggested going to Guwahati, but Sonam and her lover planned a Meghalaya tour instead.

On May 20, Sonam arrived in Meghalaya with her husband Raja. The hired killers were tracking the couple. Locally, the couple rented a scooter and roamed around. Wherever they went, Sonam kept sending location updates to her lover. Initially, the couple had gone to Bengaluru, where the hired killers—who belonged to Sonam’s locality—met them. Since the killers were familiar faces, Raja didn’t suspect anything. From there, the couple took a connecting flight to Northeast India. According to police, Sonam hired the killers because she couldn’t stay with her husband and wanted to live with her lover. She had planned everything meticulously, including booking one-way tickets. Although the lover didn’t come to Meghalaya, he stayed in constant touch with Sonam. CCTV footage showed that the killers followed the couple to their hotel in Guwahati on May 21.

On May 23, the couple went trekking to a cliff to visit a waterfall. The killers followed them. At one point, Sonam pretended to be tired, so Raja walked ahead alone. The killers stayed at a distance. When Raja reached a secluded spot, Sonam signaled the killers to attack, but they hesitated, saying it wasn’t the right moment. Sonam then offered ₹20 lakhs for the immediate killing. With that deal, the killers assaulted Raja Raghuwanshi and killed him. After confirming his death, Sonam herself helped them throw his body into the gorge. The post-mortem revealed Raja had been hit twice on the front and back of his head. The couple had been missing since May 23. Police launched a search and discovered Raja’s body on June 2. While they searched for Sonam, she surrendered in Ghazipur, UP, on June 9. Later, police arrested Raj Kushwaha (her lover), Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmil for their involvement. After the murder, Sonam traveled from Meghalaya to Indore, met Raj Kushwaha, rented a room, and later drove to Uttar Pradesh.
