India Bags Five Medals at Asian U-17 and U-15 Badminton Championships

Chengdu, China: Indian young shuttlers showcased a remarkable performance at the Asian U-17 and U-15 Badminton Championships, securing a total of five medals. The tournament concluded on Sunday with Shaina Manimuthu clinching the U-15 girls’ singles title, while Deeksha Sudhakar emerged victorious in the U-17 girls’ singles category.

In the finals, Shaina defeated Chiharu Tomita of Japan with scores of 21-14, 22-20, while Deeksha overcame fellow Indian Lakshya Rajesh in straight sets, 21-16, 21-9.

In the U-17 boys’ singles, Jagsher Singh Kajla put up a strong fight, and in the U-17 mixed doubles event, the pair of Jagsher Singh Kajla and Jananika reached the semifinals to claim a bronze medal.

This marks a significant achievement for India, as the country has now won two gold medals at the Asian Sub-Junior Championships since 2013.
