BCCI to honour Rahul Dravid Roger Binny Mithali Raj CK Nayudu Lifetime Award

BCCI Naman Awards 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that three iconic figures of Indian cricket will be honoured with the prestigious CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Former BCCI president Roger Binny, legendary Indian cricketer and coach Rahul Dravid, and former India women’s team captain Mithali Raj have been selected for this honour.

The awards will be presented during the BCCI Naman Awards 2026, which will take place in New Delhi on Sunday.

Along with these individual honours, the BCCI will also recognise the outstanding achievements of Indian teams that secured major ICC titles in 2025 and 2026. The teams to be felicitated include:

  • Indian Men's Team – ICC Champions Trophy 2025
  • Indian Men's Team – ICC T20 World Cup 2026
  • Indian Women's Team – ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025
  • India Under-19 Men's Team – U-19 World Cup 2025
  • India Under-19 Women's Team – U-19 World Cup 2025

Roger Binny’s Contribution

Roger Binny was an important member of India’s historic 1983 World Cup-winning team. He emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, playing a crucial role in India’s triumph.

After retiring from international cricket, Binny continued contributing to the game in various roles including coach and selector. In 2000, he guided the Indian Under-19 team to a World Cup victory. Later, he served as the 36th president of the BCCI from 2022 to 2025, focusing on the growth and development of Indian cricket.

Special Honour for Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid is regarded as one of the finest batsmen in the history of Indian cricket. Over his international career, he scored more than 24,000 runs and played a vital role in India’s batting lineup for over a decade.

Known as “The Wall” for his solid technique and consistency, Dravid later served as the head of the National Cricket Academy. In 2018, he coached the Indian Under-19 team to World Cup success. Subsequently, he became the head coach of the Indian men's team, guiding them to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Mithali Raj’s Impact on Women’s Cricket

Mithali Raj has been one of the most influential figures in women’s cricket. She represented India in international cricket for over two decades and remains the highest run-scorer in women’s One Day Internationals with 7,805 runs.

Under her leadership, the Indian women’s team reached the ICC Women’s World Cup finals twice. Mithali played a significant role in increasing the popularity and global recognition of women’s cricket in India.

Other Awards

During the ceremony, several other top performers will also be honoured.

Indian star batter Shubman Gill has been named Cricketer of the Year for the 2024-25 season and will receive the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer (Men).

Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana will be awarded the International Cricketer of the Year (Women) for the fifth time.

The BCCI will also recognise outstanding performers in domestic cricket, while the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will receive an award for its excellent performance in domestic tournaments.
