In a high-scoring encounter in the Indian Premier League 2026, Bhuvneshwar Kumar etched his name into the record books by becoming the first fast bowler to claim 200 wickets in IPL history.

Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, Bhuvneshwar reached the milestone during the match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. The veteran pacer delivered an impactful performance, picking up three crucial wickets in his four-over spell.

RCB dominated the match after posting a formidable total of 250 runs in the first innings. In response, CSK were bowled out for 207 runs, handing RCB a convincing victory.

With this achievement, Bhuvneshwar Kumar became only the second bowler overall to cross the 200-wicket mark in IPL history, following Yuzvendra Chahal, who leads the charts with 224 wickets in 176 matches. Bhuvneshwar reached the milestone in 192 matches, while Sunil Narine stands third with 193 wickets.

Meanwhile, star batter Virat Kohli also achieved a significant milestone. Kohli scored 28 runs in the match, taking his tally to 1174 runs against CSK — the most runs scored by a player against a single team in IPL history. He surpassed Rohit Sharma, who had previously held the record with 1161 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
