Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has protested to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for excluding its representative, Sumair Ahmed, from the closing ceremony of the 2025 Champions Trophy. While PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had informed the ICC of his absence, Sumair, the COO, was reportedly ignored by the ICC despite being present at the event. The PCB blames the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the exclusion.

The ICC defended its actions, stating that it only invites the head of the host board to the awards ceremony, not other officials. India went on to win their third Champions Trophy, defeating New Zealand by four wickets.
