South Africa Squad For T20 World Cup 2024 Announced, Aiden Markram Will Be Captain

Cricket South Africa announced a 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, the team will be led by Aiden Markram. Nortje, who is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, has been included in the South Africa squad. South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje will return to international cricket after nine months in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Opener Ryan Rickelton and fast bowler Otneil Bartman, both of whom have performed brilliantly in this year's SA20, have both been included in the squad and are set to make their T20I debuts.

Rickelton was the highest run-scorer in SA20. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the recently concluded CSA T20 Challenge and will likely pair up with Quinton de Kock at the top of the order. The T20 World Cup could be de Kock's last international assignment since retiring from ODI cricket last year.

South Africa has picked four frontline seamers in Nortje, Bartman, Kagiso Rabada, and Gerald Coetzee, while Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Berger have been kept as reserves. Apart from these, there are also three spinners in the team in the form of left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, Bjorn Fortuin and Tabraiz Shamsi. The team has an all-rounder in Marco Jansen, while Andile Phehlukwayo and Wiaan Mulder are both ruled out.

Talking about batsmen, the Proteas have strong batsmen like Markram, de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs.
