American journalist missing in Iraq, Viral Video

Shelley Kittelson

Baghdad, Iraq: Shelley Kittelson, a freelance journalist from the United States, has reportedly been abducted in Iraq, raising serious concerns about the safety of media personnel operating in conflict zones. A video related to the incident has surfaced online and is gaining widespread attention.

According to Iraq’s Interior Ministry, Kittelson was kidnapped outside a hotel in Baghdad. Authorities have initiated an extensive search operation, and law enforcement agencies are actively working to locate her and bring those responsible to justice.

The United States Department of State confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the case. Preliminary reports suggest that the individual may have links to the Kataib Hezbollah, a militia group believed to have ties with Iran.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera released footage that appears to confirm the abduction, further intensifying global concern over the incident.

Reacting strongly, International Women's Media Foundation President Elisa Lees Munoz condemned the act, describing Kittelson as a courageous journalist dedicated to reporting from conflict-affected regions. She expressed deep concern over Kittelson’s safety, noting that the journalist was forcibly taken into a vehicle on the streets of Baghdad.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by journalists working in volatile regions across the Middle East.
