Is BJP Offering Vijay 80 Seats and Deputy CM Post in Tamil Nadu?

Vijay BJP alliance talks ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly elections

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: Political activity in Tamil Nadu is intensifying as the state moves closer to the upcoming Assembly elections. Actor and politician Vijay has repeatedly clarified that his party has no alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

However, political discussions surrounding a possible understanding between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vijay's party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, have sparked debate in political circles.

Sources claim that behind-the-scenes talks between the BJP and TVK have reportedly progressed to an advanced stage. Tamil Nadu has a total of 234 Assembly seats, and reports suggest that the BJP has offered around 80 seats to Vijay’s party as part of a potential electoral arrangement.

According to political speculation, the BJP is also believed to have proposed the Deputy Chief Minister position to Vijay if such an alliance materializes. However, reports indicate that Vijay is more interested in the Chief Minister’s post, which has become a key point of discussion in the alleged negotiations.

The political environment in the state is already highly competitive, with the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance facing strong opposition from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-aligned NDA bloc.

Political observers believe that even a small shift in vote share could significantly impact the election results. In this context, the BJP is reportedly exploring strategies to prevent a division of anti-government votes, which is why an alliance with Vijay’s party is being widely discussed.

At the same time, several people close to Vijay and his advisors are said to be uncomfortable with these reports. They fear that such speculation could affect the credibility of the newly formed party.

Vijay launched his political journey by projecting his party as a fresh alternative in Tamil Nadu politics. Party insiders reportedly believe that joining the NDA so soon after its formation could create challenges for the party’s independent political identity.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami has again dismissed speculation about any alliance with Vijay’s party, stating clearly that there is no possibility of such a partnership.
