Bandar Abbas, Iran: Iran has reportedly suffered a major setback as Israel is said to have eliminated the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Alireza Tangsiri, in a targeted strike.
According to Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, the attack took place in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas, resulting in the deaths of Tangsiri along with several senior naval commanders. However, Iranian authorities have not yet officially confirmed or responded to these claims.
Alireza Tangsiri had been serving as the IRGC Navy chief since 2018 and was reportedly playing a key role in overseeing operations related to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, tensions across West Asia continue to escalate. In Abu Dhabi, two individuals were killed and three others injured after a missile reportedly struck debris in the area. In Israel, five people were injured in the Kefar Qassim region, while two others sustained injuries in Tel Aviv.
The IRGC claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli military command centers and facilities linked to nuclear infrastructure. Israel, on the other hand, reported that one of its soldiers was killed in Lebanon.
Separately, Russia has denied allegations suggesting it is supplying drones to Iran.
