US Border Patrol Arrests 11 Indian Truck Drivers
Yuma, Arizona: Agents of the U.S. Border Patrol operating in the Yuma Sector have arrested 11 Indian national semi-truck drivers who were found to be residing in the United States without legal authorization, according to an official statement released by the agency.
Authorities reported that the individuals were actively operating commercial semi-trucks at the time of their apprehension. Each driver possessed a commercial driver’s license issued by various U.S. states, including Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and California.
The U.S. Border Patrol stated that these arrests form part of its ongoing enforcement operations within the Yuma Sector, a region encompassing portions of southwestern Arizona along the US-Mexico border. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to upholding immigration laws and ensuring border security.
The arrests come amid increasing national attention on immigration compliance, licensing standards, and safety practices within the commercial trucking industry. The issue gained heightened scrutiny following multiple fatal accidents reported in 2025.
One notable case involved a fatal highway collision in Florida, where an Indian national driver—allegedly residing in the country illegally—was linked to an incident that resulted in three fatalities. Investigations into the case raised concerns regarding the driver’s ability to interpret road signage and comprehend English, thereby reigniting discussions on the enforcement of federal language proficiency and licensing requirements for commercial drivers.
