The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has implemented a significant leadership change in the Rajya Sabha by removing Raghav Chadha from the position of Deputy Leader. In his place, the party has appointed Ashok Mittal, a Member of Parliament from Punjab.
The party has formally communicated this decision to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat through an official letter. Dr. Ashok Mittal, a noted academician and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU), will now take on the responsibility as Deputy Leader in the Upper House.
The move has drawn attention within political circles, as Raghav Chadha had been actively representing the party in Parliament. Reports suggest that internal differences within AAP may have contributed to this decision, although no official explanation has been provided.
The development comes shortly after a court acquitted Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in a high-profile liquor policy case. Notably, Raghav Chadha had not publicly commented on the matter, either in Parliament or on social media, which has further fueled speculation regarding the leadership reshuffle.
The decision was reportedly finalized toward the end of the recent Budget Session of Parliament, marking a sudden and unexpected shift in the party’s parliamentary strategy.
