Ajith Kumar Breaks Silence on Karur Stampede Issue

Ajith Kumar Clarifies 2021 Election Controversy and Speaks on Karur Tragedy

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India: Tamil cinema’s superstar Ajith Kumar, known for keeping a low profile and avoiding film promotions, has once again made headlines — this time for addressing past controversies and expressing his views on a tragic incident in Tamil Nadu.

Ajith, who divides his time between movies and his passion for motor racing, often spends his free moments taking long rides on his sports bike. In a recent interview, the actor spoke candidly about the false reports circulated during the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and also reflected on his personal life, career, and the Karur stampede incident.

Clarifies Misleading Election Incident

Speaking about the controversy, Ajith said,

“During the last Tamil Nadu elections, there were reports claiming that I got angry with a fan at the polling booth. That wasn’t true. I went to vote with Shalini. One man was taking photos of all the celebrities there, even though mobile phones weren’t allowed inside. Despite being warned by the staff, he continued. So, I took his phone and handed it to the officials. Unfortunately, that video was shared online, and people assumed I was angry at the fan. I was shocked to see such misleading news.”

On His Career and Family Life

The actor also shared insights into his journey, saying that every film he signs feels like his first.

“I’ve been in this industry for 33 years. Every project means a lot to me. I owe my success to my fans and to my wife’s constant support. Without her, I wouldn’t have reached this stage.”

Ajith also opened up about the challenges of being a public figure, mentioning that even dropping his children off at school could cause safety issues.

“If I drive my car, at least 50 people follow me on bikes, asking for photos. Their affection is genuine, but sometimes it puts lives at risk. I’ve even hurt my hand while taking pictures from the car window,” he added.

On the Karur Stampede and Industry Responsibility

Addressing the Karur stampede incident, Ajith stressed that it’s unfair to blame one person.

“No individual, including Vijay, is solely responsible for what happened in Karur. We all share the responsibility — actors, fans, and especially the media. Similar crowds gather safely at cricket matches, but in theaters, such incidents are increasing. This trend tarnishes the reputation of the entire film industry.”

The actor emphasized that everyone involved must act more responsibly to prevent such tragedies in the future.
